About Us

Yoli is the creation of Joe and Laura Kim. Joe and Laura were the former chef and front of house manager of 5 Fusion & Sushi Bar, the long running fusion and sushi restaurant located in downtown bend.
After twelve years at 5 Fusion, three James Beard Nominations for the Best Chef NW and stages at restaurants like The French Laundry, Manresa, Alinea, Next, Eleven Madison Park and Masa, chef Joe Kim decided to embrace his heritage as a Korean American. 
During the COVID 19 pandemic Joe and Laura introduced their Korean cuisine to Central Oregon in the way of a ghost kitchen; with the inability to continue after indoor dining resumed the project was cancelled.
Yoli (요리), meaning cuisine in korean felt like the best name for their creation, that will focus on traditional korean flavors and favorites but with some of Chef Joe's innovative creations. 
After two years of being open Yoli continues to close on Saturdays so Laura and Joe can spend time with their children. While this seems counterproductive to running a restaurant Chef Kim spent so many years working without days off, he has chosen to put his family above the love and financial benefits of a busy Saturday. This also allows our guests to dine with our neighbors on Saturday and with us on their days off.
